Product designer must be able to see a bigger picture and architect solutions in whatever shape or form necessary to satisfy the needs of target customers — without bias or creative ego, and these solutions must be measured against business needs, competitive landscapes, and technical limitations.
To deliver such solutions, we must possess innate understanding of target customers; communicate our ideas effectively to recruit exceptional talents, gather necessary resources, and win the support of peers; appreciate the importance of business matters and effective product management methodologies as much as intricacy of great designs; be comfortable with unknowns and uncertainties; and strive for perfection but be willing to make mistakes and learn from them rather than suffer the consequences of indecisions.
For me, this is not just a theory, but a reality I’ve been living and breathing for the last 15 years. If you are interested in learning more about my experiences, please feel free to reach out to me.
